How to Be a More Effective Chemical Hygiene Officer

How to Be a More Effectice Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) A new CHO or an "old" one, will find something to put to real use in this fast-paced presentation. This seminar was developed by Russ Phifer, George Wahl, and Jim Kaufman (RJG Associates) for the American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Health and Safety as the prep course for the NRCC CHO Certification Exam. Topics include: OSHA Lab Std., other lab regulations, role of the CHO, getting others involved, developing and implementing your CHP, lab hazards and resources. Bring your CHP so it can be reviewed.

Lab Waste Management (LWM) identifies the various regulatory requirements that apply to laboratories that generate hazardous waste and provides insight into thte options for on-site waste management and off-site disposal.  Topics include: environmental controls, regulatory requiprments, liability, waste storage, working with vendors, manifests and required employee training.

Safety in Secondary School Science Labs (SSSSL) is an intensive one-day seminar covering the fundamentals of lab safety and effective lab safety programs.  Topics include: scope of the problem, accidents, legal aspects, emergency planning, chemical handling, chemical storage, biological and animal hazards, eye and face protection, hazardous waste management, electrical safety and safety program planning.
